Bayern Munich win UEFA Super Cup 2020
Bayern Munich won the European Super Cup 2020, after defeating Spanish team Sevilla, 2/1.
Javi Martinez scored the match-winning goal with a header in extra time.
Regarding the events of the match, Lucas Ocampos scored the first goal for Sevilla from a penalty kick, then Bayern returned and scored a tie in the 34th minute through Goretzka, ending the first half with a positive draw.
The score remained 1-1 at the break, but Bayern intensified the competition for the European champions.
In the second half, the referee canceled two goals in favor of Bayern Munich, and after only six minutes from the start of the second half, Lewandowski put the ball into the net after it was sent by Thomas Müller, but the video assistant referee found that the Polish striker was just offside.
An hour later, Sani scored the Bayern winger after his shot against Moroccan goalkeeper Bono Sevilla, but the video assistant referee detected a violation of Lewandowski with the Seville defender.
Bayern maintained the pressure, but as the 90 minutes had passed, Manuel Neuer confirmed his place as one of the best goalkeepers in the world with a thumping finger to block Yusef al-Nusiri after the Sevilla attack from the edge of their penalty area.
Sevilla got off to a great start to extra time and managed to create some problems for Bayern's defense, with Ocampos striking a shot while En-Nusiri's shot hit the post after hitting Neuer's leg.
Bayern can win their fifth title this year next Wednesday when they host Borussia Dortmund in Munich in the German Super Cup.
