Caning for those who violate social distancing rules in the Philippines
On Friday, the Philippine police threatened to hit with sticks everyone who violated the rules of social distancing, in order to confront Corona, which is spreading in the country, especially with the celebration of Christmas.
General Cesar Pinag, who is the commander of the team in charge of combating the Corona virus, said that the army and police will organize patrols in public places in the capital Manila, especially areas that are the epicenter of the spread of the epidemic, while they carry bamboo sticks one meter long to measure the spacing between people. These sticks are also used to strike anyone who violates these rules or stubbornly abides by them.
The Philippines has recorded more than 436,000 cases and about 8,500 deaths from the Coronavirus, to be the second highest country in Southeast Asia in terms of the spread of the epidemic after Indonesia.
