The number of earthquake victims in Turkey has risen to 83
The death toll from the earthquake that struck the Aegean region on Friday has risen to 83, and rescue efforts are still continuing in Turkey to pull people out from under the rubble.
As the Turkish authorities announced earlier that 81 of the dead were in the city (Izmir), and the bodies of two young men were found on the Greek island of Samos.
On Monday, 3 days after the strong earthquake, two girls were found alive in the wreckage of a collapsed building in Izmir.
More than 1,000 people have been infected.
The Emergency and Disaster Management Department in Turkey stated that the authorities distributed more than 3,500 tents and 13,000 beds and provided shelter for those affected, while the number of injured reached about 960 people. More than 740 of the injured have been discharged from hospital so far.
