The picture of the doctor and Corona patient, which shook emotions
Last Thursday, on Thanksgiving Day in an American hospital, a picture of a doctor wearing protective clothing spread embracing one of the patients infected with Corona, an elderly man who was crying and wanted to leave the hospital to go to his wife due to his feeling of loneliness.
The picture was taken, Thursday, on Thanksgiving Day, when American families gather, inside the United Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas, by a photographer at Getty Images.
"I was in the Covid unit and I saw this elderly patient outside his bed trying to leave, he was crying," said Doctor Joseph Farron, head of the intensive care unit at the hospital.
"I approached him and asked him about the reason for crying, and he answered me (I want to be with my wife). Then I embraced him. He cried a little, but his condition improved and he stopped crying," AFP quoted the doctor.
Varun pointed out that he was not aware of a photographer perpetuating this scene, noting that he felt "sorry" for the patient and was "very sad like him."
The doctor explained that working in the hospital’s Covid-19 patient treatment unit is "difficult", especially for elderly patients who feel lonely, speaking of some patients trying to flee because "they felt isolated and wanted to leave."
He pointed out that the patient's health condition had improved a lot, and that he was now able to leave the hospital before the end of the week.
